Mr. Beer, Week 8

by Lawrence 02.27.2010
Beer!

Another week another trip into the laundry room to give the resting bottles a dusting. Clarity and pressure in the bottles remains unchanged from last week but the silt layer on the bottom seems to be a little less sensitive to movement.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries is exceptional

The Hamburglar, because he's awesome.

Given my digestive issues I avoid most fast food as much as I can. The onions on McDonalds hamburgers make for long nights on the can and the same goes for the sesame seed buns at Burger King.  KFC tends to be passible, but it’s something I really have to be in the mood for.

Bayonetta Closing Thoughts

by Lawrence 02.25.2010
Bayonetta

I finished Bayonetta over this past weekend and I have to admit I did so more out of the Bayonetta’s attractiveness than it was a real desire to continue to play the game. (To my credit, I was rewarded with a couple minutes of Bayonetta pole dancing during the closing credits so I didn’t feel [...]

Mr. Beer Week 7

by Lawrence 02.22.2010
Beer!

I spent some time visiting the Witty Monk sleeping on the shelf in our laundry room this past weekend. At a distance, the only real change from one week to the next is the amount of dust that’s collected on the outside of the bottles. We’ve been doing a lot of laundry lately, and it [...]

I heart Whirly Pop!

With my new eating habits in mind, I tried to find good, healthy snack foods to snack on when we’re watching Tivo or a movie off our HTPC. I used to love popcorn at the movies, but I had little love for microwavable pocorn and eventually stopped it popcorn altogether.

Hello Nurse!

We moved into our house in July of 1999, and between then and January of 2000 the strange shivering fits would come and go with no seeming pattern or regularity.

Welcome to Putnam County

My wife and I live in Putnam County, New York. Were you to drive through it you would be struck by its natural beauty – rough, rocky highlands dotted by lake after lake that serve as New York City resevoirs.

Teeth as white as snow

Thumbnail image for Teeth as white as snow

I‘ve never been one that’s been concerned with whether or not my teeth were white, stained, or somewhere in between. Lately, however, my wife’s been stressing that appearances really do count at this point in my career and especially considering the position I’m in.  I’ve got a good thing going and need to play ball [...]

This past week brought no visible change to the beer as it continued to condition in the bottles in our laundry room.

Home Theater PCs Rock

by Lawrence 02.13.2010
Home Theater Personal Computer

As part of our ongoing baby project – more about that, later – I’m giving up my home office so it can become the eventual nursery. With no place for my PC, I was forced to come up with a new purpose for it. At the same time I was forced to figure out what [...]

Review: Up

by Lawrence 02.13.2010

As a bit of personal Super Bowl counter-programming, we decided to watch Up.  In short: what a wonderful movie. Over the last year or so I’ve slowly been making my way through Pixar’s catalog and I have to say that, with just a few misses here and there – I’m looking at you A Bug’s [...]

As part of my ongoing experience with WordPress, from time to time I’m going to take a moment to highlight WordPress plugins that I think are absolutely invaluable for any WordPress-hosted site. Today I’m going to focus on Chap Secure Login and Login LockDown, both of which serve to tighten security for logging into the [...]
