I’ve been wanting a kayak for years but have never gotten around to buying one – mostly due to wife’s stern warnings not to.
A couple weeks back, however, good friends of ours who are into kayaking bought a new one, needed to get rid of one of their old ones to make room, and I unexpectedly found myself the happy owner of an Ocean Kayaks Scrambler.
Along with the kayak they gave me two sets of paddles and a Thule roofrack, so in one fell swoop I had everything I needed to start.
One of the few benefits of Putnam County is the wide availability of places to go boating, so hopefully I’ll be visiting some cool places soon.
First stop is Seven Hills Lake which we have private access to, is usually deserted, and should serve well to teach myself the basics in privacy. Depending on how things go I might put together quick reviews of the different places I go splashing.
